Redakai: Conquer The Kairu is a Merchandise-Driven cartoon series and card game developed by SpinMaster. The game centers around cards (Called 'X-Drives') that are made of clear plastic and have several transparent portions. There are three types of cards: Characters, who you start with three of, Monsters, which change the defenses and abilities of characters, and attacks, which damage opponents. First player to knock out all three of their opponents wins.
The Cartoon centers around a boy named Ky Stax and his friends Boomer and Maya who quest around the world trying to collect an energy called 'Kairu', the life energy of the universe before the villain Lokar and his minions find it first. They do this by fighting other teams and transforming into monsters. The episodes are different every week without much of an overarching plot.

Redakai came in with a lot of fanfare but fell by the wayside in the United States after just a few months due to overwhelmingly negative reception.
There is in fact a Season 2 subtitled 'Shadow of Lokar' that was in production and has been completed for some time now. Season 2 episodes have begun airing October 3, 2012...in France... However, some countries, like Australia, have aired the English episodes (with the US having no sign of airing them at all), and they can be found online if you know where to look.

This series provides examples of:
- All There in the Manual: The show relies a lot on its supplementary materials to tell the story, such as the website and promotional videos carrying key plot points that often aren't visited in the show itself.
- And Knowing Is Half the Battle: About halfway through, these sorts of tips started coming up at the ends of each episodes, sometimes tips on how to play the card games and sometimes general advice. However, the card-game tips typically aren't applicable to the actual game.
- Anti-Hero: Team Stax.
- Artistic License – Physics: Lampshaded.Techris: They should be doing faceplants into the chasm right now, not climbing to freedom!
- Big Bad: Lokar.
- Big Bad Wannabe: Zane in season 2 up until halfway in, though he does manage to corral Team Imperiaz to his side.
- The Big Guy: Boomer
- Broken Aesop: A horribly botched Green Aesop in episode five. Maya leads the charge to protect a forest by hurling a huge tornado made of pure fire within said forest.Boomer:Wow, when it comes to nature, you don't mess around, Maya!
- The Brute: Bash, and Techris, too, though less dumb then Bash.
- Card-Carrying Villain: Lokar and all of the E-Teens, even the Imperiaz who should otherwise be Ineffectual Sympathetic Villains.
- Season 2 shows a bit more sympathy towards Team Imperiaz, though not enough to stop yanking their chain.
- The Chick: Maya
- Clueless Aesop: Episode four is about a macguffin which siphons Kairu from the surrounding forest, causing it to wither and die. Once the macguffin is dealt with the forest instantly heals, sending the message that environmental damage is easy to fix.
- Creepy Twins: Team Hiverax brothers Vexus, Hexus, and Nexus most definitely.
- Twin Telepathy: They can communicate with each other mentally which leads to a lot of...
- Finishing Each Other's Sentences: The fact that they know whats on each others minds also allow them perfect synergy in battle, including...
- Fusion Dance: The ability to fuse their monsters Wendrax, Fangrax, and Neurax together into Hydrax.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: They all sound alike, so the only way to know who's who is to memorize what name goes with what emblem and eye color; Vexus is green, Hexus is red, and Nexus is blue.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: They're actually robots/androids created by Lokar himself. We find this out at the end of season 2 when he destroys them for disobeying him. It explains pretty much everything about them.
- Daddy's Girl: Season 2 episode 'The Escape of the Imperiaz' shows Diara is this to her father, King Berkby, with Diara herself admitting as such.
- The Dark Chick: Zair
- Drunk on the Dark Side: Falling/being dragged into a Shadow Kairu-infested lake causes Ekayon, and later Maya and Boomer, to become this. Before Ky finds a way to fix them, the three tried to get/force Ky to take a dip as well.
- Flat Character: Our heroes.
- However, throughout the various 52 something episodes, we do learn more about them, their quirks and foibles than we knew going in. By the end of season 2, they're not as flat and are more rounded.
- Follow the Leader: It lists one of its biggest selling points as being like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Bakugan.
- The Hero: Ky; his father Conner, too.
- Two Girls to a Team: Team Imperiaz.
- Golden Super Mode: 'Gold' versions of monsters tend to be very powerful.
- Chrome Champion: With Platinum being even better.
- Two Guys and a Girl: Team Stax and Team Radikor. Also newbie Team Tiro. It's implied that Two Guys and a Girl is the average.
- It's All My Fault: Ky knows the spread of Shadow Kairu was his fault and beats himself up over it. It's part of what motivates him to find a cure, even if it means chasing an allusive and dangerous legend pertaining to Prism Kairu on his own, which he does as season 2 winds down. Thankfully, though, Ekayon sneaks and tags along; Ky wouldn't have been successful without him.
- Kill It with Fire: Metanoid's abilities are plasma-based: Plasma hands, plasma sword, etc.
- Many of Infinita's moves also use fire.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Zigzagged with regards to Lokar in the series finale. Yes, he does lose the Kairu Cube he won halfway through the season, along with the Palladion that he had won off of Master Boaddai and his own Draqular shortly thereafter when Boaddai beats him in a Master Showdown, and yes, his plan to transform the Earth's Kairu into Shadow Kairu was thwarted by Ky's timely use of Prism Kairu, but not long after, he defiantly swears his vengeance while reaffirming his goals before vanishing, seemingly abandoning the Radikor and Imperiaz in the process.
- Last of His Kind: Mookee comes from a world called Nervod that was destroyed by Lokar and is, allegedly, the last of his kind. The end of the show makes whether or not this is true much more ambiguous with a tantalizing Unreveal.
- Limited Wardrobe: Everyone really, though in season 2 Team Stax do get variations on there clothes: Ky's vest becoming a long sleeve jacket, Maya gaining a red-and-white vest, and Boomer's vest becoming white and silver.
- Evil Costume Switch: Team Radikor in season 2, though they were always 'evil'. Not much changes really: Zair gains a red jacket, Zane gains a new cloak from Lokar's tattered robe, with Techris being the most obvious in a new 'jumpsuit' with a new haircut.
- Loners Are Freaks: Subverted with Ekayon. He is relatively sociable when around Team Stax (though he did attack them when they first met on the assumption that they were E-Teens) and can, and does, work with them when necessary, but openly prefers to work alone even after meeting Team Stax and getting off well with them. He is shown to be pretty successful on his own, too.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: Lokar is Maya's Grandfather.
- Meaningful Name: Some of the names. For example, Team Hiverax, as in HIVE-mind; the brothers are all on the same wavelenth, and Team Imperiaz, as in Imperial, that is, they're royalty.
- Minimalist Cast: Although the cast isn't small per se, there is a noticeable 'limitation', if you will, of characters in this show, with Team Stax seemingly the only good guys collecting Kairu until Ekayon comes along over halfway into the first season. Even then, he almost never shows up. There are more Redakai Masters other then Master Boaddai, so presumably, there are more good guy teams out there, yet we never see them and Lokar's E-Teens always end up targeting Team Stax. Due to the Kairu deposits often being in the wilderness, we see few characters of the day and even fewer recurring characters other than the E-Teens, making the character pool seem shallow compared to other shows of this type. Even season 2 doesn't do much to change it despite the new characters, Master Boaddai gaining new trainees, and Team Hiverax replacing Team Battacor. In fact it makes things worse by recycling a good deal of season one's characters of the day. At least the whole 'We might see them again.' bit isn't a lie here.
- New Season, New Name: Season one's 'Conquer the Kairu' becomes season two's 'Shadow of Lokar'.
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: Happens a lot with X-Drive Ass Pulls, but Ky's 'Inner Kairu' is a particularly bad offender.
- Heck, it's practically an Invoked Trope, as it is said that one's Inner Kairu develops when the time is right...
- Nice Guy: Farm Boy Boomer exemplifies this Trope. A notable example being his willingness to train Team Tiro, before Ky and Maya, a willingness that endears Team Tiro to him above the other two of Team Stax.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: The Cataclysm that wound up throwing the Kairu energy all over the world in the first place was caused by Ky's Dad, Conner Stax.
- Out of Focus: Mookee after early season 1. He gains a bit more screen-time, along with a second focus episode, later in season 2.
- Parents in Distress: The Imperiaz only work for Lokar because he is keeping their parents as hostages. In season 2 episode 'The Escape of the Imperiaz', Diara, Koz, and Teeny finally find their parents Nan and Berkby in a crystal prison in a cavern, only to run smack into Team Radikor. Zane then forces them to work for him under the same stipulations as Lokar.
- Product-Promotion Parade: Happens near the end of each episode. Getting the Kairu Energy 'unlocks new X-Drives'. It's like the characters just opened a booster pack as they list off what they all got. Late season 1 and season 2 tone this down some or mixes it up a bit.
- Put on a Bus: Team Battacor after their defeat in season 1's finale, are banished away by Lokar and are never seen and, bar a quick mention later in season 2 by Koz worrying of sharing a similar fate, never heard from again. Though since they weren't actually destroyed like the Hiverax were, they could always appear again, in theory.
- Really 700 Years Old: The Redakai Masters, though made most obvious with Master Boaddai, especially after he loses his Palladion monster halfway into season 2 and starts acting more and more his age until he gets it back in the last episode. Their precise ages are left vague, but they are definitely Older Than They Look.
- The Rival: Zane.
- Rival Turned Evil: Though Zane was always evil, once Lokar's out of the picture or so it seems... and he finds his X-Reader, he really loses it, declaring himself the one in charge over his own teammates and later even Team Imperiaz. He even dons Lokar's tattered robe as a cloak for emphasis.
- Zane was also a peer of Ky's and trained with him under the same Master when they were younger. His very bad attitude and dishonorable ways got him kicked out, which led him to joining Lokar.
- Robotic Reveal: Team Hiverax. It happens toward the end of season 2. Turns out they were built by Lokar, which we found out as he destroyed them for their betrayal/disobedience.
- Rogues Gallery: Lokar's E-Teen Teams would each take turns more-or-less with heckling Team Stax for the current Kairu deposit during an episode. The different Teams generally wouldn't interact with each other with some exceptions, more so later on in Season 1 and onward.
- Scenery Porn: Yes indeed! This show's art in general is very good, and often times the 'camera' pans out to show off the various beautiful landscapes and backdrops that Team Stax inevitably visit on their quest for Kairu. (Tellingly, they never visit populated cities, only small villages at most.) For some, the art is the primary reason for watching the show (if not the only reason).
- Shirtless Scene: Ky at the start and end of Neptune's Reef. Boomer also gets one at the end of the same episode.
- Ship Tease: Maya and Kieran in the latter's appearances. In Kieran's second appearance in a season 2 episode, Ky and Boomer definitely put the tease in Ship Tease for Maya, thus emphasizing it even more.
- The Sixth Ranger: Though not a permanent fixture, Ekayon is about as close as this show gets.
- Storming the Castle: Interestingly, this is done during the first episode of season 2 (rather than the end of season 1, due to the Kairu Tornament). Team Stax and Conner storm Lokar's Keep with the end result being an explosion that ruins the Keep and seemingly takes out Lokar. (Keyword being 'seemingly'.) Said explosion was caused by a container filled with large quantities of Lokar's stored and corrupted Kairu that Ky accidentally fires at in a battle. This explosion scatters the Shadow Kairu energy across the globe, thus setting up the premise for the season: find and collect the dangerous Shadow Kairu.
- Strictly Formula: Up until about when Ekayon first showed up, two-thirds into season 1, the episodes had a pretty standard formula: Master Boaddai would sense the location of a Kairu deposit and send Team Stax to collect it. They would arrive at the general location and try to pin-point the exact whereabouts with their X-Readers and Maya's ability to sense Kairu. Along the way, the E-Teens of the day, who happened to be looking for the exact same Kairu deposit Team Stax were, would intercept them (or vise-versa). A Kairu challenge would happen (with powers and no monsters) and Team Stax would usually (but not always) drive them off temporarily. They'd continue searching for and eventually find the Kairu deposit, only to come by the same E-Teens again. Another Kairu challenge (with monsters this time), with Team Stax usually coming out on top. They collect the Kairu, get new X-Drives they may or may not use, and go home feeling better about themselves, with a possible scene of Lokar reprimanding the failed E-Teens (additional obstacles when looking for the Kairu are optional). Once Ekayon first appears and onward however, the formula gets shaken up bit by bit. Early season 2, for example, has Team Stax not win as many decisive victories, even losing the Kairu to the Hiverax and failing to beat Team Radikor the second time around.
- Tagalong Kid: Mookee kinda filled this role early on, but it wasn't long before his appearances became more sporadic to the point were he stopped even being on the X-Scaper and just stayed at the monastery.
- After their debut, Team Tiro also kinda filled this role. 'Kinda', in that they didn't always show up or tag along (in fact, the number of times it happened can be counted on one hand) and they could fight when necessary, even if they didn't have much experience with doing so.
- The Stoic: Techris.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Though it isn't elaborated on beyond the one scene, when Ky uses the Prism Kairu to counteract and cure the encroaching Shadow Kairu in the series finale, when the negative effects are shown reversing, a scene is spared showing Nan and Berkby being freed from their crystal prison. Since the show ends not long after, this is about as happy an ending for Team Imperiaz as they are gonna get, even if they don't know it yet.
- Vague Age: Pretty much everyone aside from Team Stax who are mentioned to all be 15 at the show's start (Maya comments that one year has past when they revisit an old location late in the second season). Ekayon was 12 when he was taken in by Master Atoch and could be speculated to be the same age as Team Stax if not a year older. Team Tiro look to be the same age as Ekayon did and Ky did their respective flashbacks, so 12 could be guessed for them.
- The biggest examples would be the Redakai and King Kieran. The former are all older gentlemen that are much older than they look (some are beginning to gray, some aren't), whereas Kieran is a King and sole resident of a seemingly abandoned castle who doesn't really look like he'd even be in his twenties yet. And he has a mutual crush on 15 year-old Maya to boot.
- Valley Girl: Princess Diara.
- Vertical Mecha Fins: Bruticon
- The Un-Reveal: While celebrating their recent triumphs from the finale, Teams Stax, Team Tiro, Masters Boaddai and Conner, and Mookee and Ekayon all witness an aircraft that looks like the X-Scaper making a crash landing on the Monastery grounds. Mookee notes that the style looks like that of his people of Nervod's. When the door opens and shadows step out, cue the reactions from the entire group... before cuing the credits! Since new episodes are highly unlikely after this one, it could also count as an example of 'And the Adventure Continues'.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Team Imperiaz in regards to rescuing their parents. All of season 1, Lokar was blackmailing them to find him Kairu with no inclination that he would ever free their parents. Then comes season 2 with Lokar seemingly out of the picture: they finally find their parents only to run afoul of Zane who takes up Lokar's blackmail to coerce services to himself. They then enlist Team Stax for help in taking down the Radikor, with some reluctance on Boomer and Maya's part, only to have that blow over, forcing them to double cross Team Stax (for the second time in the series). Even when the two E-Teen groups drive off Team Stax, Zane reveals he has no intention of releasing Nan and Berkbyever, and continues using them as leverage. It's unfortunate; if only the Imperiaz had the courage to stand up to Team Radikor's threats alongside Team Stax... Though the finale does spare a short scene for them.

I'm Ky, a Kairu Champion. I race around the world to find a powerful energy known as Kairu. Not long ago, Lokar unleashed a power called Shadow Kairu. After going on a journey, I found Prism Kairu, a force I thought had the power to change Shadow Kairu back into normal Kairu. After using it, instead of turning all the Shadow Kairu back, it only worked on Kairu that had already been found. The rest of it transformed into something not Shadow or Pure Kairu. This new Gray Kairu changes from good to bad depending on who has it. Lokar also has a new team of E-Teens that have a type of move called a Violet Move, which increases their Kairu strength during a battle. With the odds stacked against us, we have to press on to fight Lokar and save the world from him and his Dark Teams. My quest is to save the world from Lokar by conquering all types of Kairu, and to one day ascend to the level of
REDAKAI!
John was sitting with Connor and Master Boaddai in Master Boaddai's room.
'I think I may have found a way through Lokar's defenses around the kidnapped children.' He held up his X-Reader, which had a new attack. 'I found a new Kairu Deposit, that Gray Kairu you guys told me about, and it gave me a new attack, Shrinking Cloud. As far as I can tell, this attack allows the user to shrink anything that it hits.' He held up his X-Reader to show the Green Attack. 'If I can get in there, I can use this on the kids and get them out. But… after I saw Sara's reaction and how I've been told she's been fighting, I-I don't know if she'll come back with us after we rescue Paul, Lexi, and Jeremy.' Connor put his hand on John's shoulder.
'Don't worry John, we'll get your daughter back.' He smiled. 'After all, she's your daughter, and she's good at heart. If Lokar did anything to her, we'll find a way to undo it.' He smiled.
'You're right Connor. I'll get her back to Elizabeth soon.' Master Boaddai nodded.
'Yes, now that you mention her, we need to discuss things. Perhaps it is time that she be brought into the fold. I'm going to discuss it with the rest of the Redakai later today, but I think they will agree with me.'
Team Stax plus Ekayon were sitting in a circle in a forest, in lotus position with their eyes closed. Master Atoch was standing in the middle of the circle.
'You must feel the Kairu around you. Remember, Kairu is in everything, every tree, every bush, ever river and every stone. Even a petal from a dying wildflower holds Kairu.' They all started glowing with Kairu ever so slightly as the ground around them started glowing as well. 'Yes, good. Now control the flow of the Kairu, push it away from you. If you can master this principle, the mastery over the flow of Kairu in nature, not only will you be that much closer to becoming Redakai, but you will all be able to stop Team Femmicore and their Kairu Melds.' The Kairu around them started being pushed backwards, making an expanding circle. 'Good. You are all doing very well. You can take a break now.' They all took a sigh of relief and the Kairu went back to its natural place. Ky smiled up at Master Atoch.
'Thanks for training us today! Although I don't know why Master Boaddai couldn't do this today.' Master Atoch nodded.
'It's no problem, I enjoy having students. As for why Master Boaddai didn't teach this, it is a principle only I have mastered among all of the Redakai. You see, pushing Kairu away goes against a Kairu Warriors, or even a Redakai's basic instincts. I only developed it in light of having a Violet Move used against me once, before the use of those X-Readers fell out of favor. Unfortunately, the bright young woman who used it against me fell out of the path of Kairu, and I have not seen her for many years. But, nonetheless, this is a powerful technique that you can use to stop your opponents from gaining more Kairu in a battle. I never thought I'd actually be using this technique, let alone teaching it once again.' Maya stood up and stretched.
'Well, even if we don't end up using it, it's still a useful skill to have.' She smiled over at Ekayon. 'It was nice to get a chance to train with you.' Ekayon smiled and nodded.
'Yeah, we haven't talked much lately. What with the whole Gray Kairu thing and Team Femmicore and stuff. Man, I gotta tell you, it's really hard to deal with it sometimes. But we can get through this. It's not gonna last forever.' Boomer nodded.
'No, but my hunger will if we don't eat something soon. Did anyone bring lunch?' The teens all laughed. Master Atoch stroked his chin.
'I suppose you can't exercise with Kairu on an empty stomach. I believe Mookee has lunch ready for everybody in the X-Scaper, including you Ekayon. Go ahead and eat lunch, it'll give me a chance to meditate.' Ekayon nodded.
'Thank you Master Atoch.' He smirked at Ky. 'Race ya!' He tore off.
'Hey, no fair,' called out Ky as he ran after Ekayon, laughing. Ekayon laughed back as Maya and Boomer joined in the race. Ekayon tore into a clearing where the X-Scaper was, touching the side of it before the others got there.
'I win!' Ky playfully glared at him.
'That's only because you cheated.' Ekayon shrugged.
'Hey, at least it's not a Kairu Challenge. Not that I would ever cheat during one of those. That's serious business.' The door opened and Mookee came out, holding what looked like a ladle.
'Hey guys! Reba sent me a new recipe that I decided to try out! She called it beef vegetable soup! I though it'd be a nice, hearty meal after some hard Kairu training. Plus soup is quick and easy to eat!' Boomer stood right in the doorway and smelled it with a deep breath.
'Oh man, I miss my mom's soup! Let's get inside and eat this deliciousness!' He went inside and sat down quickly, pouring himself a bowl of soup. Everyone laughed and followed him in. Master Atoch watched the whole thing through the Astral field, smiling and opening his eyes once they were gone. He then turned and saw someone approaching him.
'I know that you're here Akindele,' he said, turning to him. 'I wasn't expecting you to come back. You've been meditating in the Himalayas for so long I was thinking you'd abandoned the path of a Kairu Warrior.' Akindele was enshrouded in shadows, but a clear look of shock was evident in his brown eyes.
'That girl,' he said. 'Who is she?' Master Atoch looked back towards Maya as they all ran towards the X-Scaper.
'That girl,' he said. 'That is Maya. Your isolation and meditation has clearly kept you blind from what has been going on for the past 14 years. She is one of Master Boaddai's students, a bright young girl of 16.'
'Is she Laenna's daughter,' he asked. Master Atoch looked at him in shock.
'Well it's common knowledge that she is now. Her grandfather is Lokar after all, and Laenna was Lokar's only child. Why? Is something the matter?' Akindele shook his head.
'No.'
After everyone finished off the pot, they all stood up and stretched.
'Well, time for more Kairu training,' said Ekayon. Boomer burped loudly.
'I don't know,' he said as he patted his stomach. 'I think I need a little time to digest.' Master Atoch opened the door and stepped inside.
'Are all of you here? Good. I'm afraid we'll have to cut our training short. I've detected a Gray Kairu deposit somewhere in Japan.' Ekayon nodded.
'Last time I went to Japan, I lost the Kairu to Team Femmicore. I won't let the same mistake happen again.' Ky put his hand on Ekayon's shoulder.
'We'll go with you bud. We've got transportation right here! We'll be there well before any of the other E-Teens!' Maya nodded.
'Yeah, it sounds like a good way to practice what we've learned.' Master Atoch nodded.
'Then you should get going,' he said. 'Get there speedily and be prepared for a fight. If you don't forget what you've learned here, then you will do well in your battle!' He started walking off the ship. Boomer got in the driver's seat.
'Ready to go on a new adventure?' They all cheered as the X-Scaper lifted off.
Connor and John both outside of the entrance of a cave system in a dark, cold area filled with snow and storms.
'Lokar really has a thing for desolate, cold areas, doesn't he,' said Connor. John sighed.
'Are you going to make witty quips the whole time,' he asked. Connor shrugged.
'I don't know, it's kind of my thing.' John sighed.
'This is what I get for asking you to come along.' He looked back towards the entrance. 'Come on.' They started slipping into the cave. They went through a natural tunnel until they came out into an open cavern. Inside, Team Battacor was surrounding the cage where the kids were in.
'Why do we even have to do this,' whined Rynoh. 'This is such grunt work.'
'You wanna stay in Lokar's favor,' asked Zylus, leaning against a stalagmite. 'Then we have to do grunt work. We failed our last mission. The rest we can do is take care of a few brats.'
'I don't know anything about Aliens,' said Lexi, 'but I get the feeling by your body type and height that you're no older than us. Definitely no smarter than us.' Zy6lus growled and went up to the cage, grabbing the bars.
'What was that,' he asked, glaring at her. She turned her nose up at him.
'Just that you clearly have an inferior intelligence level,' she said, 'otherwise you've figured out a way to get out of the grunt work.' Zylus growled more.
'If you weren't precious hostages for Lokar, I'd knock your teeth right out!' He punched the bars of their prison, hard. Rynoh sighed.
'That temper is how we lost to Team Stax,' he said. Bash rolled his eyes.
'We lost because Ky was able to get those crazy people to listen and let go of Boomer and Maya,' he said. Paul got close to the edge of the cage.
'You guys keep talking about Boomer,' he said with a slight lisp, pronouncing the 'r's as 'w's. 'Where is he?' Zylus smirked at him.
'Your pathetic friend isn't here,' he replied. 'He's out being dumb and we're not going to tell you where he is!'
'There's be no point anyway,' said Rynoh. 'You guys are gonna be trapped here the rest of your lives.
'Then can we at least get some blankets,' asked Lexi. 'I think Jeremy is getting hypothermia, and dead hostages aren't exactly useful.' Jeremy was shivering uncontrollably. Zylus growled again.
'She's right,' he said, turning to Bash. 'BASH! Go get us some blankets!' Bash rolled his eyes.
'Fine, but you have to get their food later!'
'Fine just get them warm,' Zylus replied. 'I'm not gonna be responsible for them dying.' Bash smiled triumphantly and started walking off. Connor looked towards John.
'Are you really okay with beating up a child,' he asked.
'That child is one of my son's captors. I will take him down if I need to!' Once Bash passed them, not even noticing the two massive adults, they pounced on him, knocking him out before Bash even had the chance to think about grabbing his X-Reader. John tied him to a stalagmite and Connor just looked at him.
'Now what,' Connor asked. John looked towards the cavern.
'Now we fight the other two,' he said, running into the cavern. Connor was quickly behind him. Zylus looked at them in surprise.
'Connor Stax? And who are you,' he asked, pointing to John. Jeremy looked at him in shock.
'Dad,' he asked in surprise.
'Mr. Connell,' asked Paul and Lexi in equal surprise.
'Don't worry Jeremy, Daddy's here to save you,' said John. 'I'm gonna get you home safe and sound!' He turned back to Zylus, who now had Rynoh standing next to him.
'What do you guys think you're doing,' asked Rynoh. 'You can't break them out of this cage. It's impenetrable! Lokar made it himself!' Connor nodded.
'We know, but it's not gonna stop us from trying!'
'Kairu Challenge,' declared John, in the standard position. Zylus smirked.
'Challenge Accepted,' he replied. Wind whirled around them and made Jeremy shiver more.
The X-Scaper landed outside of a small rice-farming village, turning invisible as everybody climbed out. Boomer looked around at the place.
'Doesn't this seem a little archaic,' he asked.
'The set up might be,' said Maya, 'but it's also the best way to grow rice. They make the set up and plant it by hand, but they also harvest it with machines. It's the best way to grow rice in the modern age.'
'Can't they just use machines to plant the rice too,' asked Ky.
'Not without mucking up the set up and ruining the water rows,' she replied. 'When you're harvesting it, it doesn't matter, but you need to keep the rows and the water pretty clean for them to grow properly.' Ekayon looked around.
'Most of the people of Japan believe in Buddhism or Shinto,' he said, 'so either there will be a Buddhist temple or some ancestral formation around that probably has the Kairu.'
'Ancestral formation,' asked Boomer.
'Like rocks or trees,' said Maya. 'Shinto is the belief in the power of nature, and also in ancient rituals and not forgetting how your ancestors lived, but it also has many other purposes depending on what part of Japan you're in. Many people become gods when they die.' She laughed. 'There was actually a cat who died that became the patron god of the trains. Her name was Tama. The Japanese people will declare certain things sacred and representative of these gods, such as trees that are larger than all the others, or rocks in the water that seem apart from everything else.' Ky nodded.
'Interesting. So that's what we're probably looking for,' he asked.
'Probably,' said Ekayon. 'Kairu is drawn to things of power. That's why they're usually in actual relics, although sometimes they're in the strangest things.' Maya nodded.
'Ekayon's right, so we should ask the natives about anything of historical importance,' she said.
'One problem,' said Boomer. 'Do any of us actually speak Japanese?'
'Uh… I don't,' said Maya. 'Ekayon?'
'Don't look at me,' he replied.
'I don't know it either,' Ky said. He looked down and saw a little boy tugging on his pants and saying something in Japanese. 'Sorry little guy, I don't know a word you're saying.' A young girl, about their age, ran up to them and pulled him back.
'Yata Kenji!' She looked back up at them. She looked to be about their age, wearing a sailor outfit. 'I am so sorry. He can be rather rude!'
'It's no problem,' said Ky, not even thinking, but then, almost with a sound, it hit him. 'Wait, you speak English?' She nodded.
'Yes, it is required to learn English in middle school,' she replied. 'I am Ayami.' She gave him a bow. 'It is nice to meet you.' Ky looked at her in surprise as she bowed, but Maya bowed back.
'Ky, we're in their country, this is how you greet new people!' He shrugged and he and the other two boys bowed to her. They all stood back up straight.
'My rude brother was only asking why you were here,' said Ayami.
'We're just looking for a relic,' said Ky. 'Something hold that really mean something. You wouldn't have happened to see anything like that, would you?' She gasped.
'You don't mean the Yamashiro Katana, do you?' Ky raised an eyebrow.
'Uh, Yamashiro Katana?'
'It is a proud weapon made by my ancestors,' she said. 'The strongest and deadliest of swords. It is said is was used by a great samurai who worked for Tokugawa Shogunate.' Maya nodded, putting a hand on her chin.
'Interesting. A sword that old and powerful surely would've attracted Kairu.' She smiled at Ayami. 'Would you please show it to us?' Ayami looked at her suspiciously.
'Why would I show a gaijin our family and village's most prized treasure,' she asked. 'You asked and I answered a question, but to show you the sword is too much to ask.' Ky looked at Maya.
'Uh, any idea what a gaijin is,' he asked. Maya glared at Ayami.
'It's a very offensive term for a foreigner,' she replied. 'Look, we're not here to steal it. There are some very bad, bad people after the energy that is probably in that sword. We're here to get it out. If we don't take the energy, these people will take the relic.' Ayami glared right back at her.
'I am not handing over my village's treasure to anyone. We can defend ourselves. Now if you'll excuse me, I have school, which is where you four should be.' With that, she took her brother and walked off. Maya groaned.
'Why are people so difficult sometimes,' she asked. Boomer patted her on the shoulder.
'Whoa, easy,' he said. 'You can't expect people to hand over their treasures to us willingly all the time.'
'Boomer's right,' said Ekayon. 'I've been met with plenty of opposition, and not from just E-Teens. People have a right to be suspicious of strangers wanting their things. I mean, I didn't even want anything from you guys and Ky was suspicious of me.'
'All in the past Ekayon,' said Ky. 'But he has a point. I bet you can use your Maya sense to find the Kairu.' She nodded.
'I could, but I'd have to go invisible. And I wouldn't want to look for it on my own.' The Radikor using 'Lokar's Shadow Attack' on her flashed through her mind. 'Kairu hunting by yourself doesn't usually end well for me.' Ekayon nodded.
'No problem! I have the Invisibility Attack on my X-Reader.' Ky and Boomer held up theirs as well.
'Yeah, the invisible thing won't be the problem. It'll be keeping track of each other,' said Ky.
'I mean, we could just hold hands,' said Boomer. 'A bit juvenile, but it gets the job done.' Ky shrugged.
'I'm for it, but Maya should be in the lead since she has her Maya sense.' Maya nodded.
'Sounds like a plan,' she said. 'I'll go invisible first and then grab your hand Ky, and then we'll just go in order.' She held out her X-Reader, pulling out the X-Drive. 'INVISIBILITY!' She disappeared, and then grabbed Ky's hand. He did the same and grabbed Ekayon's, and then Ekayon got Boomer's. Once they were all invisible, Maya started walking, a line of foot prints in the mud forming as they walked along. 'I think it's down this way,' she said.
'Maya, did you know that your hand is freezing cold,' Ky asked.
'Well your hand is burning hot,' she said. 'You're really warm. Are you sick or something?'
'No, I guess my hand's always just that hot,' he replied. 'Just like the rest of me.
'Since you can't see it, I'm letting you know I'm rolling my eyes right now,' said Maya.
'Ditto,' said Ekayon as they got close to a house.
'Yeah Ky, turn down the ego a little would ya,' said Boomer jokingly.
'Stop,' said Maya. 'I think we're here.' She closed her eyes and focused. 'It's the sword alright. It's full of Kairu energy, Gray Kairu.' She gently opened the door of the house. 'No one's home, we should turn visible again so we don't waste our Kairu.' She turned visible again and everyone else followed suit, letting go of each other's hands.
'Well, let's get the Kairu,' said Boomer, starting to walk around the house.
'Boomer, you have to take off your shoes,' Maya said. Boomer gave her a look of confusion.
'Huh? Why?'
'For one thing our shoes are muddy,' she replied, 'and for another, it's rude to walk in someone's house with shoes on in Japan.' She started taking off her boots. 'Come on, everybody, shoes off.' Ekayon leaned over to Ky.
'Are you sure you're the leader,' he said with a smirk.
'Hey, I trust Maya's opinions,' replied Ky. 'Whenever we actually have to deal with people in a foreign country, it's best to just leave this stuff up to her.' He started taking off his shoes. Ekayon and Boomer followed suit.
'Alright,' said Maya, 'the Kairu is this way!' The followed her around the house until they found a room that was obviously set aside for the sword. There were traditional paintings all over the walls of great Samurai using the sword in battle.
'Wow,' said Boomer, 'this looks like a serious room of respect for this sword.' Maya nodded.
'Yeah, people here have great respect for their history,' she said. Boomer went to lift the glass case off from over the sword.
'Let's take it outside to drain it,' said Ky. 'We don't want to damage anything in here, especially if E-Teens come after it.' Boomer nodded and they all started heading outside.
Once they were outside, Boomer put the sword down. They all pointed their X-Readers at the sword, ready to drain the Kairu.
'That Gray Kairu belongs to Team Femmicore,' proclaimed Rueth from behind them, the wind whipping around them. Ky turned in surprise.
'Rueth!' He smiled. 'I'm glad it's you guys we're facing.' She looked creeped out.
'What is with that creepy smile you have,' she asked. 'You look happy to see me! You're the enemy, that's not supposed to happen!' Mae looked at Ky suspiciously.
'What are you planning,' she asked.
'To tell you the truth,' he said, putting his X-Reader away. 'Rue, I'm, not gonna fight you.' Mae's eyes widened with shock.
'R-Rue?!'
'Who's Rue,' Rueth asked. 'You're a little off of getting my name right if you're talking about me.' Mae held out her X-Reader and then kicked the ground.
'SEISMIC KICK!' The ground crumbled underneath Team Stax and Ekayon. Ky quickly grabbed his teammates and kicked off a rock.
'JET JUMP!' Within seconds, they were all safely back on stable ground. Rueth glared at Mae.
'What are you doing Mae,' she demanded to know. 'We haven't declared a Kairu Challenge, and Ky just said he didn't want to fight! We can't attack them like that!'
'He's about to spread filthy lies,' said Mae, glaring at Ky still. 'He wants to break you! Remember what Lokar said about the Redakai! Whatever he says, keep that in mind!'
'Whatever Lokar told you about the Redakai was lies,' said Ky. 'The truth is, you're not who Lokar says you are!'
'Ky, is this really the best idea,' asked Boomer nervously, his eyes flicking back and forth between Ky, Mae, Rueth, and Sara. 'I know you want her to see reason, but Mae does not look happy right now!'
'I can't let my little sister be under Lokar's thumb like this,' proclaimed Ky. Rueth's eyes widened with shock.
'Wh-what?' Mae glared at Ky.
'Don't listen to him, he's full of lies! The lies of the Redakai! Kairu Challenge!' Ky stepped closer to Rueth.
'I won't accept it! You have to know the truth. You're my little sister. You look just like my mom!' He pulled up one of the few pictures of all four of them on his X-Reader. 'See? This is you!' Sara looked at the picture and laughed.
'It really does look like you,' she said laughing. 'Wow, you're really his little sister after all! How does it feel to have your whole world shattered?' Boomer looked at her with sad eyes.
'Sara, how could you be so cruel?!'
'Guys,' said Ekayon, 'we have a Kairu Challenge on our hands and a relic full of Kairu. We have to fight, it's the Kairu Code.'
'He's right,' said Maya. 'We'll have to settle this later.'
'You can't be my brother,' said Rueth. 'My family abandoned me as a baby!'
'Fine, if you won't believe me, then I'll accept the Challenge,' he said. 'If we win, you come with us to Master Boaddai's monastery, as well as we get the Kairu.' Mae smirked.
'Fine, then if we win, Maya come with us,' she said. 'After all, if you're going to try and take our teammate, we'll take yours.' Rueth glared at her.
'You can't use me and Maya as bartering chips,' she said. 'That's-'
'No, I accept,' said Maya. 'If we loose, I'll go with you guys.' Rueth glared.
'Fine, but no talking about lineage until after the battle is over.' She got in the Acceptance stance. 'There's no way I'll ever accept that you're my family.' Ky got in the stance accepting the Challenge.
'I'll prove it to you when we win.'
Connor and John got out their X-Readers.
'FRACTUS! MAGMA MINIONS,' declared Connor.
'FROZITONE! SNOW BEAM ATTACK,' called out John.
'MAGNOX! MAGNETIC TORNADO!'
'SPYKOR! NEURO BLAST!' Connor looked at the cold environment.
'Why don't we warm up the place a little,' he said. 'MAGMA MINIONS!' He threw the Attack at Zylus, who tried to dodge it, but was surrounded by the magma.
'No fair,' he said. 'You guys are like ten times our age!'
'We're not that old,' said John. I think you could cool down with a SNOW BEAM ATTACK!' The snow hit and hardened the magma around him, turning it into solid rock he couldn't escape from. Rynoh glared at the both of them.
'NEURO BLAST,' he called out, pointing at John. John just held up his arm.
'ICE SHIELD,' he proclaimed as a shield of ice appeared, bouncing Rynoh's own attack back at him. With that, he was knocked out.
'That was too easy,' said Connor.
'That's because I doubt Lokar was expecting a seasoned Kairu Warrior and a Redakai to come and demolish his guards,' replied John. Jeremy went up to the edge of the cage.
'Dad, did you really just do that,' he asked in awe.
'Yes son I did,' he replied. 'Now, I need all of you to get close. I'm about to use an attack with will help all of you escape.' Paul, Lexi, and Jeremy got close to the front of the cage. 'SHRINKING CLOUD!' All of the kids started shrinking down to about six inches tall. They ran out of the cage and Jeremy went and hugged his father's leg, sobbing.
'I-I thought that I-I-I-I was never gonna see you ag-gaaaaaaiiiiin,' he sobbed. John smiled and picked him up, holding him close.
'I would never abandon you Jeremy,' he said. He got down on one knee and held out his other hand for Paul and Lexi to climb on, which they did. 'Now come on, it's time to go home.'
'METANOID! PLASMA SWORD!'
'INFINITA! FIRE VORTEX!'
'FROZTOK! BOREALIS BLAST!'
'SCORPIRION! ENERGY WHIPLASH!'
'SEEDERENDER! SAKURA SHURIKENS!
'SEIMESICA! EARTH BARRAGE!'
'LEONESS! LION FANGS!' They were all stacked up and ready to fight.
'I'm gonna make you regret your lies Ky,' proclaimed Rueth. 'SAKURA SHURIKENS!' She threw the attack at him, and he had to backflip a few times to get out of the way.
'I'm not gonna hurt you Rue!'
'If you won't fight her Ky,' said Ekayon, 'I will!' He held up his arm. 'ENERGY WHIPLASH!'
'IVY WHIP,' she yelled out in reply. The two attack hit each other and tangled around each other, so now Ekayon and Rueth were in a battle of tug of war.
'Well Boomer, looks like you get to be my playmate again,' said Mae.
'NO,' proclaimed Sara. 'I will fight Boomer!' Mae shrugged.
'Suit yourself. EARTH BARRAGE!' She sent flying red boulders at Maya, who barely managed to dodge.
'That was a dirty trick Mae,' Maya said, glaring. Mae just giggled in response.
'I'm all about dirty tricks,' she said.
'I'm going to beat you Boomer,' said Sara, 'and cut off ties to my old life!'
'This isn't you Sara,' he said. 'I don't want to fight you, but I will if I have to!'
'It's me now,' she said, 'And I will utterly destroy you and the Redakai! LION FANGS!' She threw the attack at him and he just barely managed to dodge it.
'Alright Sara, you leave me no choice.' He ran towards her full speed, getting close. 'BOREALIS BLAST!' Due to being so close, she couldn't dodge the attack and was thrown backwards. She grunted, but got up.
'Is that the best you can do?' Ekayon looked towards Rueth and held out one hand, pulling her as close as he could.
'MANDI BLADES!' The attack hit her directly in the chest, and she was thrown backwards. The attack, being so direct, drained the Kairu in her. She struggled to sit up, putting a hand on the ground.
'Floral…. Kairu…. Meld…' The Kairu in the plants started surging towards her.
'Guys, Master Atoch's trick! We have to use it now!' Ky and Ekayon worked together to push the Kairu away from Rueth. Mae saw this and looked panicked.
'STOP! You have to let her use the Violet Attack or you'll kill her!' Maya looked at her in surprise.
'What do you mean? How could it kill her?'
'She has a heart problem,' said Mae. 'She needs to supplement it with Kairu! That's why she has her Violet X-Drive!' The physical affect from the lack of Kairu was obvious on Rueth. Ky stopped pushing it back and looked at Ekayon.
'We have to let her do it,' he said. 'We can't kill her!' Ekayon looked frustrated, but let go of the Kairu. Rueth look in deep breaths as she regained her strength, standing up.
'Ever since I was little, I've always had problems,' she said. 'Lokar said it was because I was Kairu deficient and it affected my heart. He said that the Redakai knew people had this condition, but wanted the power of Kairu all to themselves, so they hid it around the world so they could keep it for themselves.'
'That's not true at all,' said Ky. 'The Redakai are the good guys! Lokar's the one who steals Kairu!'
'Shut up,' she yelled. 'Stop lying to me!'
'She'll never listen to you,' said Mae.
'Pay attention to you opponent,' said Maya. 'FIRE VORTEX!' Mae's eyes widened as she became entrapped in a swirling vortex of fire. She screamed as she was lifted higher and higher off the ground. Sara looked over at Boomer.
'You gonna fight sneaky like that too Boomer,' she asked.
'No, I fight fair and square,' he replied. 'So believe me when I say I'm sorry about this, but BLIZZARD AXES!' He threw them at her, and once again, she didn't have a chance to dodge and got thrown back, this time not getting up.
'It seems like with all this arguing going on, you guys are weaker,' said Ekayon. 'Ky, do you wanna finish her off or should I do it?' Ky stepped up.
'I'm taking you home Rue.'
'I. Am. Not. RUE! PETAL WIND ASSAULT!' She threw out a storm of razor sharp petals at Ky.
'TAR BALLS!' He used the sticky tar to catch the petals and throw them all back at Rue, who hit the ground quickly and was knocked out. Maya couldn't hold the Fire Vortex much longer and Mae fell to the ground. She growled and put her hand on the ground.
'ELEMENTAL KAIRU MELD!' All of Team Stax and Ekayon saw the Kairu move towards her and focused, pushing it away from her. Eventually, she couldn't keep trying the move.
'Curse you all,' she said as the sky changed back to normal. 'Rueth will never believe you!'
'Oh yes she will,' said Ky as he helped her up. 'She's going to know the truth about everything.' Ekayon held up the Yamashiro Katana.
'And we got the Kairu. You guys have no reason to stick around.' Mae glared.
'We will come to your monastery for her,' she proclaimed before grabbed Sara and disappearing. Boomer looked at them as he left.
'Sara…' Maya came over to him and pat him on the back.
'Don't worry Boomer, we'll help her.' He nodded.
'I know.' They all held their X-Readers out to the Yamashiro Katana, letting the Kairu dance in the air before it went into all of their X-Readers. Maya breathed a sigh of relief as she looked at her X-Drive.
'I got a new Blue Attack, Samurai Strike.' Ky smiled.
'Katana Barrage.'
'I got Steel Shrapnel,' said Boomer.
'Shuriken Blast,' said Ekayon. 'Some well rounded moves.' Ky started heading towards the X-Scaper, still holding Rueth.
'Come on, we've gotta get her home.' They all nodded and followed after him.
Jeremy, Paul, and Lexi were back at the monastery, with blankets and hot cocoa as John told them all about what had happened, with Connor Master Boaddai nearby.
'And so then we went in to rescue you and you know the rest.' Jeremy looked at him in shock.
'So you use to be a superhero and gave it up for Mom,' he asked.
'Well not exactly, but that's basically what happened,' he said. Jeremy looked at him with wide eyes.
'My dad is a superhero!' John laughed.
'I guess.' Lexi cleared her throat.
'So if we were bargaining chips for Sara to join this Lokar person, why isn't she here with us yet,' she asked.
'Lokar seems to have found a way to corrupt her,' said Master Boaddai. 'At least, that is what I've gathered from what I've been told. It will take time, but we can undo the corruption that he has done to her.'
'Dad,' called out Ky. Connor turned and looked in shock as he saw him carrying Rueth with him.
'Ky! RUE!' He ran over to them and took Rue from Ky. 'Hold on Rue, you'll be just fine!' Boomer got off the ship and saw Paul and Lexi, safe and sound.
'Paul? Lexi?' Their eyes widened and they ran towards him.
'BOOMER!' They all hugged each other tightly.
'Geez Boomer, four years and this is how you choose to start talking to us again,' said Lexi. 'I knew you didn't get into a private school.'
'We're all gonna go home now, right,' asked Paul.
'Yeah, you guys can go home,' said Boomer. 'I gotta stay here and get Sara back.' John pointed towards the X-Scaper.
'Come on guys. I gotta take you guys home. Your parents have been worried sick about you.' Jeremy, you stay here.' Jeremy looked surprised.
'Wait, but why?'
'Because, it's about time that your mother learned the truth. I'll be bringing her back here.' He turned to Paul and Lexi. 'Now come on, we're gonna call your parents on the way there.' They nodded and followed him, but gave Boomer one quick hug before leaving. Boomer hugged them tightly and then watched them leave. Maya pat him on the back.
'It'll be okay. At least they're safe.' He nodded.
'Yeah…'
In a sparsely decorated bedroom, Rueth slowly woke up.
'Wh… what happened…?'
'Good, you're awake,' said a worried voice to her left. She looked up at saw Connor. She screamed and fell off the bed. 'Rue, are you alright?!' She backed up against a wall.
'Stop calling me Rue,' she demanded. 'My name isn't Rue! It's Rueth!' Connor shook his head.
'No, it's not,' he replied. 'Your name is Rue Lily Stax. You are my daughter, and the daughter of Rachel Stax.' She shook her head.
'You guys are all crazy,' she declared as she stood up, holding her head. 'If you're my dad, then why would I have been raised by Lokar?!'
'He kidnapped you when you were a baby and replaced you with what I thought was you. I thought that you passed in the night. When I woke up that morning you weren't breathing anymore.'
'And how do you know that your baby girl didn't pass away,' she demanded to know. 'How are you certain it's me?'
'You look just like your mother. You have my hair, but you have her eyes, her face, her everything.' He pulled a picture of Rachel out of his robes. 'Look at the resemblance.' She looked closely at the picture and saw her staring back at her own face. She gasped, but her face became stony.
'That doesn't prove anything.' He sighed.
'You want proof? You should be old enough to remember this.' He started playing a recording on his X-Reader.
'Let's go in the garden
You'll find something waiting
Right there where you left it
Lying upside down'
You'll find something waiting
Right there where you left it
Lying upside down'
Rueth gasped at the lyrics that the woman's voice sang.
'I know that lullaby…'
'That's a recording of your mother singing to you when you were younger. I used to play it when you couldn't sleep. I'm nowhere near the singer she was.' She sat back down on the bed.
'How…. How could that be the same lullaby…?' Connor sat next to her.
'Because you are my daughter. That is why Lokar kept you locked up for so many years and only just now had you start fighting. He didn't want you to learn the truth, so he waited until she thought you were too indoctrinated to listen to us. But you're a smart girl.' He smiled at her. 'Just like your mother.' She shook her head.
'I-I need time to think…' He nodded.
'Of course,' he said as he went to the doorway, but then he stopped and paused, turning back towards her. 'You don't have to stay here if you don't want to. But know that I love you very much, and you're always welcome with me.' With that, he walked out of there.
She sighed and looked at her X-Reader. 'Should I contact him? Surely he's wondering where I am. After all, that man is practically my father. Surely he's missing me.' She didn't have to call. He contacted her through her X-Reader.
'Rueth! Where are you?! Why didn't you return with the rest of your team?!' She sighed.
'I was captured by Team Stax. We cut a deal. If we lost, they could have me. If we won, we could have Maya. I knew that you wanted her badly, so I made the choice to accept the deal.' He smiled, obviously pleased.
'Your self sacrifice is greatly valued,' he replied. 'But you don't have to honor the agreement. You can come back now.'
'Wait,' she said. 'Connor Stax claims I'm his daughter, Rue. It's ridiculous, but… he showed me my 'mother' and I looked so much like her… and he knew the lullaby I'd been singing for years.' Lokar stood there silently, and then laughed.
'So it's finally been revealed,' he said. Rueth gasped in shock.
'Wh-What?!' He just kept laughing.
'Your parents didn't abandon you! I took you in the middle of the night! And do you want to know why? Purely to spite Connor Stax! I gave you your Kairu deficiency!' Rueth started tearing up as she heard this.
'No… no…' Lokar kept laughing.
'And the best part is, you had no idea how much you've hurt people in my name!' She threw her X-Reader across the room, cracking the screen and making Kairu leak out.
'NO!' She kept screaming no at the X-Reader as Lokar kept laughing. She covered her ears as she started to cry. Connor came running back in and heard Lokar laughing at Rueth. He growled and grabbed the X-Reader.
'Let's get this straight Lokar! I am done letting you mess with my family! I am done letting you hurt my loved ones! You've hurt my son, you've hurt my wife, and now you've hurt my daughter!' Lokar kept laughing.
'And what are you going to do about it?'
'I'm going to stop you, once and for all!' He ended the calls and went over to Rueth, picking her up and holding her gently. 'It's alright. You don't have to deal with him again.' She clung to him tightly.
'E-everything I ever kn-knew was a l-lie,' she sobbed out. He rubbed her back.
'It's going to be alright. I'm here now. I always will be.'
It's always best to not let an opponent get in your head. With what I said to Rueth was different, but taunting and lies are cheap tactics to get you to lose. Normally, you should always listen to your teammates and stand strong in your position.
